Installing Spelling Dictionaries in WeSay

  1. Download Enchant
    1. Click and download Enchant.1.4.2.1.msi or the most recent version
  2. Install Enchant. It creates spelling dictionaries in:
    1. 32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
    2. 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
  3. Download additional spellcheck dictionaries from: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries
    1. For example, go to the link above, and from the list on the right, click item “44 Kiswahili (East Africa)”
    2. Click the link to download: Spelling 2004-05-16
    3. Open the downloaded zip file sw_KE.zip and copy the files inside into the following directory:
      1. 32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
      2. 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Start WeSay
  6. Turn on spellcheck dictionaries for your languages in WeSay
    1. Open the WeSay Configuration Tool
    2. Open your WeSay project
    3. Click the Writing Systems tab on the left
    4. Pick a language from the list of languages in the middle
    5. Click the list next to SpellCheckingId (It may say something like “none” or “nothing installed”).
    6. From the list, choose your spellcheck dictionary.
    7. Continue clicking each language you want spellcheck for and ensure that it has a spellcheck dictionary selected
  7. Turn on spellchecking for a specific field in WeSay
    1. Click the Fields tab at the left
    2. Click on one of the fields (for example, Gloss)
    3. Make sure the checkbox for “Spelling: Enable spell checking” is checked
    4. Continue clicking each field you want spellcheck enabled for and ensure that it is enabled
