Installing Spelling Dictionaries in FLEx

  1. Create the following directory if it doesn't already exist:
    1. Windows Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\enchant\myspell\
    2. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\enchant\myspell\
  2. Copy .dic and .aff files from the dictionaries you downloaded into the myspell folder
    1. If you have already installed spellcheck for WeSay, you can copy all the spellcheck dictionaries it installed in:
      1. 32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
      2. 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Enchant\share\myspell\
    2. Copy the dictionary files you want from that location to the directory you created in Step 1:
      1. Windows Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\enchant\myspell\
      2. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\enchant\myspell\
  3. You can also download dictionaries from http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries Once you have downloaded the files, extract them from the .zip or .tar.gz file and copy at least the .dic and .aff file to the \myspell directory you created in Step 1
    1. Windows Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\enchant\myspell\
    2. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\enchant\myspell\
  4. Restart FLEx
  5. Turn on spellcheck dictionaries for your languages in FLEx
    1. In FLEx, go to the Format→Set up Writing Systems… menu item
    2. Click on one of the languages in the list and click the Modify… button
    3. Choose a spelling dictionary from the list at the bottom right of the dialog that appears. Click OK.
